The life that habits built

Your daily habits create your life.
.
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. -Annie Dillard
.
I can’t tell how how many times this quote comes to my mind. It’s usually when I am engaging in a behaviour or habit that is not in line with my goals, values and desires.
.
For me, it’s a gentle, subtle reminder that I can choose another way to be. For me, it’s often a pathway out of fear and back to my heart, my centre.
.
Like anybody else, I get caught up in the frantic, busy pace of life. I suffer from FOMO. I worry I’m not enough or way behind everyone else.
.
Having that kind of mentality isn’t how I want to live. So when I feel myself getting caught up in anxious, frantic energy or negative, suffering, struggling thoughts, I remind myself of how I want to show up.
.
I do it a thousand times over.
.
Every time I do it, I celebrate myself.
.
This whole life, getting where we want to go, living how we want to live, being the person we want to be isn’t about perfection. That doesn’t exist.
.
It’s really a practice. The practise of coming back to yourself over and over and over again. Life is course correction. .
You know the destination you want to reach. You may have a really good idea about how to get there and you start out but you keep getting blown off your course.
.
Don’t beat yourself up for that. That’s the wind, the current, the submerged rock in the river.
.
The real work is navigation. It’s bringing yourself back on course every time something goes awry. You don’t have to get frustrated or call yourself a failure or think it’s impossible.
.
Over time, you will learn to accept that course correction is the key element and that if you keep doing that and moving forward, you will find your way.
.
I love you.
I believe in you.
You’ve got this!
